中華文化有一個傳說，相傳雨傘為魯班的妻子雲式所發明， 是為了送給她丈夫出外工作的時候用的，而雨傘也具有可移動房子(庇護所)的概念;另在18世紀的英國雨傘則為女性的專  屬品，表示了女性對於愛情的態度，不論在驕陽之下或細雨之中傘則都具有一種等候與期盼的情感狀態。作品中運用大量的傘狀造型堆疊樹蔭，如同憶起兒時放學回家父母親帶著傘在校門口等待的溫暖片段，那是一種屬於家鄉最深刻的記憶與想念，也如同在鹽水鎮上那些古老、風雅的建築長久於此，期盼著離去的遊子們在偶然的日子中回來望一望。

According to Chinese legend, umbrella was invented by the wife of the Lu ban who was the first craftsman in Chinese culture. In order to assist her husband’s work, Lu Ban’s wife invented umbrella which was a portable shelter for the workers working outdoor. In 18th century, umbrella became a feminine accessory which also indicated British ladies’ romantic attitude as no matter it was under scorching sun or drizzling rain when the ladies opened the umbrellas, they  were waiting or expecting someone to come home. As a result, the creator would like to borrow the image of umbrella into his work in which a great number of umbrellas assembled into a tree. The shade of the tree was like the umbrellas that our parents held at school gate, waiting for us to go home. It was the deepest gentle moment in our childhood and the hometown. As well as the antique buildings in Yanshui, they elegantly settled in the old town, waiting for the descents’ occasional visit.
