The glowing light in the stone is a use of metaphor to represent the meaning of expectation as the title. This expectation comes from the joy of the approaching Lantern Festival. The degree of brightness sporadically changes as the accelerating breathing of everyone waiting for the special day, elaborating the gladness and nervousness which are out of the reach of words.
