The works in the Tree series have been created over many years, exploring themes of the energy, history, and memory of a place, as well as the boundary between nature and humanity.
Drawing inspiration from the history, energy, and memories rooted in a particular land or location, the series imagines the image of a grand tree growing from those elements and creates it in a way that resembles planting. It forms a continuous series of works.
At the same time, the works express the contrast and mutual influence between nature and humanity (civilization), while also representing the flow of time in each land.
The multiple reflections of oneself in the mirror symbolize a reevaluation of the past, present, and future, as well as one's current position, confirming that the present moment is one's place on their own timeline.
This work "The Tree of Saltwater" is a great tree that has grown alongside the history and memory of the Shudoku Zen Temple. It projects multiple reflections and questions about contemporary society, the self, the history of the Earth, and time to those who visit.
The experience of merging with this tree will become a "transparent day" for people to reflect on this place.
